Paul McLeod died on the 19th September after an accident during takeoff on the Aiguille du Midi.

I saw Paul in the cable car in the morning, he was his usual animated self, excited about what he was going to do but trying to play it down at the same time. He was on his way up with Pete Grounsell to do a tandem take off, then Paul was going to cut away and free fall before opening his base jumping parachute. I was climbing on the Blaitiere all day and was looking out for them but never saw them. I heard later from one of the workers on the cable car that they had had difficulties during take off from which they never recovered and neither of them survived.

Paul was a great character and will be sorely missed.

Here are the few photos that I took of Paul. He was always to keen to get another run in than to hang around long enough for taking photos.
